Since we moved to New Braunfels in April of 2010, we have tried to make a visit to the TX coast in May and October each year. In 2011, our May visit didn't go quite as planned. We arrived mid day on Friday afternoon, and had time to play in the surf and the sand for a bit. We returned to our trailer, happily soggy and exhausted, but something was amiss. After a quick shower, V went to the couch to rest and within minutes was sound asleep. When we tried to wake him, he was burning up. We thought it would pass, but as the night wore on, it just got worse, so around 3am (because mom of the year had not packed sufficient first aide and medicines!) Jason made the 30 minute drive to Corpus Christi for reinforcements - thermometer, motrin, tylenol, gatorade, etc.
We got V's fever down and he rested, so we decided to stay until Sunday, and stick with our original plan. But when we returned home, V still had a nasty cough and was running a fever, so we headed to our Dr. here in NB. He ordered a chest x-ray, lots of meds and breathing treatments. Vaughn made a full recovery and was a real trooper but it wasn't quite the "beach trip" we had in mind!

| After a visit to Dr. Gruhlkey, we headed to the hospital for a chest x-ray. V thought seeing his insides was "totally cool!" |
